EI Principal, David Argue was a panelist on a webinar, entitled “Why Don’t Health Insurance Markets Work Like Other Markets? Or Do They?”

Dr. Argue has extensive experience in the health care industry. He has analyzed competition and performed damages analyses in various health care markets for government merger reviews and private antitrust litigation. This webinar addressed the current debate in healthcare reform and focused on changes in health insurance markets. The panelists gave an overview of the fundamental economic principles of health insurance and some of the incentives that affect enrollees, providers, and the adoption of new technology by payors. They also discussed the implications of the market forces and institutions that make healthcare reform challenging and interesting.
