Dr. Varas’s work at Secretariat Economists focuses on the economic analysis of antitrust and other competition issues. He has conducted economic analysis in the Healthcare, Electricity, Retail, and Oil industries. His topics of interest include mergers, reasonable value, and quality competition.
Dr. Varas received his Ph.D. in Economics from University of Texas at Austin. He also holds a B.S. and M.S. in Civil Engineering from the Catholic University of Chile. Dr. Varas is fluent in English and Spanish.
