EI Principal Stephen E. Siwek Discusses the Status of Content Theft at The Creative NYC: Campaign Against Content Theft Summit.

In September 2011, EI Principal Stephen E. Siwek participated in a panel discussion on media content theft at The Creative NYC:  Campaign Against Content Theft Summit in New York City.  In his presentation, Mr. Siwek established awareness of the global reach of the content theft and its economic impact.  He also provided national statistics on content theft and resulting job loss estimates.  The Summit brought together representatives from the City of New York, the entertainment industry (including the Motion Picture Association of America and International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees), US Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, academia and law enforcement, who participated in panels and reviewed the current state of content theft.

Mr. Siwek has particular expertise in the economic analysis of the U.S. motion picture industry and of the related U.S. industries that depend on the effective protection of copyrights.  Mr. Siwek has published numerous studies on behalf of the International Intellectual Property Alliance (“IIPA”) that analyzed in detail the economic importance of the U.S. “copyright” industries (including the motion picture industry) to the US economy.
